Information
  • The workshop takes place at the Bildungshaus Mariatrost. The Bildungshaus is a church-owned conference center located in a beautiful suburb of Graz. Although surrounded by green hills, the conference center is only 15 Minutes by car from the center of Graz and well connected to the city by public transportation.
All rooms are single bed rooms. Shower and toilet facilities are on the same floor in the vicinity of the room. The cost for room and board (3 meals/day) is 380.- Austrian Schillings (~ 28 Euro) per day.
Participants interested in higher class accomodation are asked to contact the organizers (wolfgang.ring@kfunigraz.ac.at).
  • There is no conference fee!
  • Two slide projectors, a dia-projector and a video-beamer are avaliable in the lecture room. A laptop computer with the following technical specifications is also provided:
    • Microsoft Windows 95 or LINUX operating system
    • Microsoft Office (including MS-Powerpoint)
    • MATLAB 5.0
  • Here you can find visitor information including an overview map of Graz and a map of the campus.

  • How to get to the Bildungshaus Mariatrost?

    From the Airport:
The price for a taxi from the Airport to the conference center (Bildungshaus Mariatrost) should be about ATS 280,-
There are several (bus and train) connections from the Airport to the Central Train Station (Hauptbahnhof). The last bus leaves the Airport at 6:20, the last train leaves at 9:34 in the evening. Click here for Schedules.
    From the Central Train Station:
Either take at taxi to Bildungshaus Mariatrost (about ATS 140,-) or take tram No. 1 to Mariatrost. The tram stop for No. 1 is not the one immediately in front of the train station. Follow the tram rails until you reach an intersection of two big roads (approx. 2 minutes walk). Look for the tram stop on the opposite side of the street. The last tram departs around 11:15 in the evening. You can get a ticket from the driver (ATS 20,-). Leave the tram at the terminal station Mariatrost.
    From Mariatrost to the Bildungshaus:
You can see the Baroque-church of Mariatrost on top of a hill from the terminal station of the tram. Walk up the (unforunately very steep) hill until you reach the top. You find the entrance to the Bildungshaus after a  few steps on the right hand side of the road.
    If you come by car:
Use the maps on our web page to find the Institute of Mathematics in Heinrichstrasse. If you are in Heinrichstrasse, heading east, follow the road for approximately 4 kilometers until you can see the church of Mariatrost straight ahead on top of a hill. Turn right, and drive up the hill until you reach the top. To the right you see the entrance to the Bildungshaus.
