The aim of this collaborative project with the Medical
University Graz is to investigate the neural correlates of successful
learning over the life span. Using fMRI and NIRS, learning in different
domains is investigated in different young and older healthy adults, as
well as specific patient populations. Current studies investigate motor
learning and cognitive processes in multiple sclerosis (MS) patients,
rehabilitation in stroke patients, as well as learning in the domains
of language and mathematics in young and old adults. The project is funded
by a grant of the Styrian government, and by contributions of both Universities
according to a cooperation contract.
